HELEN LAURA ODGERS DAVIS, 86 died December 12, 2015 at Midland Care Hospice in Topeka, KS. She was born on April 20, 1929 in Clay Center, KS, the daughter of Archie and Violet (Linquist) Kimble. Helen was raised in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS. She married Melvin L. Odgers on December 22, 1946. They made their home in McFarland, KS. Helen and Melvin returned to Clay Center in 1966. Melvin preceded her in death in 1970. Helen later married John Davis and he preceded her in death in 1993. Helen’s work career included employment at KP&L, Wabaunsee County, Clay County, Real Estate, US Postal Service, and the Veteran’s Administration. Upon her retirement from the US Postal Service, Helen obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors from Washburn University in Topeka. Helen was a member of the American Legion, VFW, National Association of Retired Federal Workers, and the Kansas Authors Club. Helen loved and liked writing poetry which received recognition from the Kansas Authors Club.
