Howard Bowman

HOWARD LEE BOWMAN died July 19, 2008 at his residence in Clifton, KS at the age of 83. He was born on January 22, 1925 in Republic County, Kansas, the son of Edward Bowman and Nellie Johnson. He was raised near Clyde, KS. He graduated from Agenda High School in 1942 and attended the University of Kansas. He served in the US Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He married Velma Ellen Shields on April 9, 1949, she survives of the home. He worked as an independent pipeline welder for 35 years. He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, DAV, Clifton American Legion , Clyde VFW, Clifton Masonic Lodge, and president of the Clifton Community Care. He is preceded in death a brother. Survivors include: Wife: Velma Bowman, Clifton, KS Son: Darrell and wife Ann Bowman, Emporia, KS Daughter: Patti and husband Phil Aumick, Bennington, KS Brother: Loren and wife Wanda Bowman, Clyde, KS Grandchildren: 5 Grand & 1 Great-grand Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Faith United Church Presbyterian in Clifton, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Doris Compton. Burial will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Vining, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 5-8 PM Tuesday at Faith United Church Presbyterian in Clifton Memorials can be made to Clifton Community Care or the church
