It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Howard Calvin Lippe, at the age of 94 on August 1, 2025 at Liberty Place Assisted Living in Clay Center, KS.   Howard was born on October 30th, 1930 in Clay County, one of five children of Harvey and Senetta (Wessels) Lippe.

Howard attended one-room rural country schools around Clay County until his high school years where he attended CCCHS graduating in 1948.  At the age of 20 he was drafted into the US Army.  Howard served as a proud veteran of the US Army, in the Korean War from 1951-1953 spending sixteen months overseas with the 17th Field Artillery.  Upon discharge he earned the rank of Sergeant.  During that time, he received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Campaign Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.  After his military service he married his “love at first sight”, Sylvia Schooley, on November 22nd, 1953.  The couple farmed around the Morganville, KS area for 18 years where they raised 3 children before moving to a farm Northeast of Clay Center, KS in 1971 where they continued to farm as long as their health allowed.  As a farmer, Howard enjoyed raising pigs, cattle, growing wheat, milo and soybeans and taking part in the community by serving on the Hays Township Board for many years.  He was also very active in the Methodist church in Morganville, KS before transferring his membership to the First Presbyterian church of Clay Center, KS.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia of 71 years who passed on November 9th, 2024, his parents Harvey and Senetta, his sister, Florene Robinson and husband Raymond, and sister Delores McMurtrie and husband Jack.

Howard is survived by one son, Mike and wife Judy Lippe of Clay Center, KS,  two daughters  Michelle and husband Mike Nuss of Arlington, TX, and Melanie and husband Matt Francis of Corinth, TX;  grandchildren, Mark and wife Jessica Lippe of Clay Center, KS, Adam and wife Anna Lippe of Clay Center, KS, Zachary Nuss of Keller, TX, and Ryan Nuss of Glendale, CA;  great grandchildren, Candace Lippe, Ethan Lippe, Corbin Lippe and Cole Lippe all of Clay Center, KS;  brother,  Duane and wife LaDonna Lippe of Clay Center KS; sister, Nancee and husband Bill Steenbock of Longford, KS, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Neill- Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Sunday, August 10, 2025 from 2-5pm.

Funeral Service will be held at The First Presbyterian Church, Monday, August, 11, 2025 at 10:30am. with burial to follow with Military Honors at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS.
