HOWARD STEELE died May 18, 2013 at Medicalodge, Clay Center, KS at the age of
82. He was born in Washington County near Enosdale, KS, son of Talmage and Florence (Pierce)
Steele, on May 31, 1930.
Howard married Lucille Blenn on June 18, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Westmoreland, KS. To this union three children were born, one son Kevin and two daughters, Beverly and Sherrie.
Howard worked as a journey lineman for the City of Clay Center for 20 years before moving to Burlington where he worked for the rural electric co-operative for 16 years until
he retired and returned to Clay Center. Lucille preceded him in death on July 9, 2010. Howard
was a den leader for the Boy Scouts and coached girls softball, later forming his own team, the Hatfield Hustlers. He enjoyed taking his family camping, fishing, and hunting. In later years he liked to take his hunting dog out and just walk. Howard loved to garden and take care of his home. He is also preceded in death by a son, Kevin Steele and 3 brothers, Earl and Homer Steele and Verlin Taylor.

Sister: Ethel Clair, Randall, KS
2 Granddaughters: Rochelle Steele and Alissa Willmann
4 Grandsons: Jeremy and Jason Layman, Lance and wife Ragan Willmann and Sean Steele
Great Granddaughter: Elsie Willmann
Great Grandson: Tristan Stephens

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Greenwood
Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas.
Officiating the service will be Rev. James Byers.
Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to the Friends of the Clay Center Zoo c/o the funeral home.
