Irene Bauer

IRENE ETTABELLE BAUER died September 11, 2008 at Medicalodge, Clay Center, KS at the age of 97. She was born on January 13, 1911 in Clay County Kansas, the daughter of Herman Lippert, Sr. and Jennie Murphy. She was raised in Clay County and graduated from Clay Center Community High School. Irene taught at a country school and then married Gerald Bauer on December 25, 1929. She worked at the CO-OP grocery store in Clay Center. Gerald preceded her in death on April 3, 1991. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center. She is also preceded by 3 sons, Robert, Jon, and Jerry and one brother, Clifford. Survivors include: Son: Gene Bauer, Sterling, CO Grandchildren: Eleven Grand and Seventeen Great Grand Brother: Herman Lippert Jr., Clay Center, KS Sister: Jeannette Fox, Clay Center, KS Sister: Gladys Chapman, Salina, KS Daughter In-Law: Marie Bauer, Houston, TX Daughter In-Law: Barbara Wagster, Denver, CO Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 10:30 at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, Kansas . Officiating the service will be Rev. James Byers. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Monday, September 15, 2008, at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church or Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.
