Iris Rouse

Iris A. Rouse, age 98, passed away, May 14, 2026, at Wakefield Care and Rehab in Wakefield, KS. She was born on March 1, 1928 to Claude and Irene (Forslund) Pettet in Clay Center, KS. Iris was born and raised in the Clay Center community and was a graduate of the Clay Center Community High School. Iris married Doyle Rouse on October 4, 1946. They made their home in Clay Center. Iris enjoyed crocheting, playing Bridge, and having coffee with “the ladies”. She especially enjoyed her time on the polling board during elections. Iris was a member of the Bridge Club and the Clay Center United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle; her parents; two sisters, Barbara Michael and Donna Carlson; one brother, Dale Pettet; son-in-law, Marvin Conner; and a grandson, Richard Rupe.

Survivors include, daughters, Sandra Conner, of Springfield, MO, and Janet (Brian) Curtis, of La Feria, TX; son, Steven Rouse, of Salina, KS; sisters, Shirley Bristol of Portland, OR and Beverly Steward of Topeka, KS. Iris was blessed with six grandchildren, Randy and Bryan Rupe, Amanda Miller, Tara Varnell, and Andy and Tim Curtis, several great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
