IRMA MAXINE SPELLMAN, 92 died February 1, 2014 at Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center, KS. She was born on April 15, 1921 in Las Animas, CO. to Lee and Gertrude (Rice) Askey. Irma was raised in the Ponca City, OK area. She married Earl Spellman on January 22, 1949 and he preceded her on May 2, 1996. She received a Masters Degree from Columbia University in Home Healthcare. She worked for the Clay County Hospital and founded the Clay County Health Department. She was a member of the Hays United Methodist Church and then transferred her membership to the Clay Center United Methodist Church. She served in the US Army during WWII in the 67th Field Hospital in Europe as a nurse. She is also preceded by 2 brothers. Survivors: Son: Dan and wife Bonnie Spellman, Clay Center, KS Son: Rodney and wife Rita Spellman, Hiawatha, KS Daughter: Connie and husband Stan Hineline, Manhattan, KS 9 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren Sister-In-Law: Betty Spellman Sister-In-Law: Elaine Wakefield Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 10:30AM at the United Methodist Church in Clay Center, KS Officiating the service will be Pastor Ryan Lynch Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Clay County, KS Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 3-8pm at the funeral home with family greeting friends from 5-7pm. Memorials: Clay County Health Department or the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor, c/o funeral home.
