Jackie Ferguson

MARY JAQUELINE FERGUSON died March 27, 2009 at Medicalodge, Herington, KS at the age of 90. Jackie was born on August 26, 1918 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Henry Girzi and Margaret Fitzgerald. She graduated from Superior, WI highschool in 1935. She earned a degree in elementary education in 1940. Jackie taught kindergarten in Mayville, WI and Kansas City, MO. She married Irvin W. Gates on August 2, 1941. He was killed near Aachen Germany on November 15, 1944 during WWII. She married Hugh Elwin Ferguson on April 10, 1950. They made their home in Council Grove, Gower, MO, Richmond, MO, Salina, KS and then Clay Center, KS. They owned and operated Ferguson Rexall Drugs for over 30 years. Survivors include: Husband: Hugh Elwin "Fergie" Ferguson, Herington, KS Son: Irwin and wife Ann Gates, Marshall, TX Son: William Ferguson, Burien, WA Daughter: Sue Ann and husband Randy Wittman, MHerington, KS Grandchildren: 6 Grandchildren and 1 Great-grandson Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Roy Nelson, Rev. Larry Myers, Rev. Gerald Martin Inurnment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. There will be no visitation Memorials can be made to Clay Center or Herington United Methodists Churches c/o the funeral home
