Jackie Schafer

JACQUELINE “JACKIE” SCHAFER died August 31, 2011 at Select Speciality Hospital, Topeka, KS at the age of 79. Jackie was born on October 16, 1931 in Clay County Kansas, the daughter of Delbert and Ruah (Hahn) Sterrett. Jackie was raised in the Idana community and graduated from CCCHS in 1950. She worked at Boogarts and was a homemaker. Jackie married Ed Schafer on December 1, 1967. She then worked for Farm Bureau Insurance for 28 years. Jackie was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Straub and a grandson, Corey West. Survivors include: Husband: Ed Schafer, Clay Center, KS Son: Chuck and wife Janice Dunn, Clay Center, KS Son: Gayle and wife Lynette Dunn, Clay Center, KS Son: Mark and wife Joanna Dunn, Clay Center, KS Sister: Nina Jo and husband Bob Bray, Leavenworth, KS Sister: Jane and husband Greg Warren, Springfield, MO Brother: Mike and wife Lois Sterrett, Topeka, KS Brother: Jim and wife Marilyn Sterrett, Gladstone, MO Grandchildren: 15 Grand and 27 Great-Grand Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Paul Tessaro. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 5:30 - 7 PM. Memorials can be made to Jackie Schafer Memorial Fund to be designated later c/o the funeral home.
