James Edward Wilson of Vining, Kansas was called home June 28, 2011, at the age of 62. He was born March 14, 1949 in the Clay County Museum to Ernest and Nola (Roberts) Wilson , who preceded him home. Also preceded by his brothers, Donald and Ronald and Uncle Clifford Wilson and Aunt Rita (Wilson) Rogge Kubick. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict and returned home in 1971. Upon his return he bought the custom harvesting units from his uncle Clifford. While custom harvesting in South Dakota in 1973 he met his wife. James and Shirley Mowery were united in marriage on May 25, 1974 in Clifton, Kansas. They spent their “honeymoon” each year in Oklahoma at the farm he started custom harvesting on in 1972 until 2010, the last year he was able to make the harvest which ended in South Dakota due to ill health. He was Post Commander of the American Legion Post 227 in Clifton for a total of 5 years during the period of 1991, 1992, 1993, 2002 and 2003. He was also a member of the Clifton Christian Church until it dissolved. He then transferred his membership to the Clyde Christian Church in 2011. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, daughters, Nancy Jo Wilson and fiancé Troy Riley and Jennifer Rowlands and fiancé Michael Groves, all of Clifton, six grandchildren; Gage Michael Wilson, Gareth James Rowlands, Sicilia Jo Wilson, Sara Ann Rowlands, Dafydd Rowlands and Devonn Mae Wilson-Riley and a sisters in law Cheryl Wilson and Leslie Wilson. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Vining, Kansas. Visitation will be 9-10:30 AM Saturday at Turner Funeral Home Memorials to the James E. Wilson Memorial Fund to be designated later
