Janet Cyre

d. May 17, 2024

Janet Rae Fyfe-Cyre, 81 of Clay Center, Kansas, died on May 17, 2024 at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka, Kansas.  She was born on September 22, 1942 in Oak Hill, Kansas, the daughter of Millard and Rachel (Hine) Fyfe.

She married Mick Crawford and they owned a bait shop where she helped catch and clean fish.  She was also a waitress.  She later married Lloyd Cyre and moved to Kearney, Nebraska in 1968.  The couple owned and operated Rusty’s Drive In and she also worked for the newspaper.  Janet received her GED and attended college in Grand Island, Nebraska.  She managed the Brown Derby where she was the best bouncer ever. and then Golden Corral until they closed.  In 1990 she moved to Idana, Kansas to take care of her mom.  Janet then worked for Wardcraft where she made the maps for the trucks to carry the houses. With that in mind, you can only imagine what her directions were like, she always had a shortcut or a faster way to get to where she was going.

Janet loved spending time with her family, she was always a favorite grandma with the kids, the way she could just sit for hours and hours and play with them.  Sometimes she was a favorite grandma because she would even let them say bad words.  Janet loved to cook, even though she always made way too much food!  She loved making scrapbooks and would work on them all year long to give them as Christmas presents.  Janet could spend hours in a Wal-Mart, looking and looking until she found a good deal.  She played Bunco at least once a month.  Janet also loved to travel and her favorite place she traveled to was Jamaica.  She enjoyed working in the yard, planting flowers and putting up thousands of Christmas lights and cut outs, it always looked like the North Pole.

May the love and memories you shred with Janet bring you comfort and strength, she may be gone from our sight, but she will always be in our hearts.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Rick; 2 sisters, Jean and Karen, and her niece, Bobbi Peterson.

She is survived by her daughters, Laurie and Lisa of Nebraska and LaNece of Kansas; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
