Janice Smith

Janice Smith, 84, died April 28, 2021 at the Medicalodge in Clay Center.  She was born March 29, 1937, the daughter of Clair and Eva Glenola (Gray) Blake in Oak Hill.  Janice grew up in the Oak Hill and Miltonvale areas and graduated from Miltonvale High School.  She married Wayne Cyr in 1956 and they later divorced.  She worked for the ASCS office in Concordia, retiring after 38 years as director of that office. Janice married Chester Smith on August 13, 1982 and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2020.  She then owned and operated Janice’s Dream Hair Salon in Longford for 20 years.

She is also preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Portia Kieffer-Meyer and Connie Cyr.

Son: David Wayne Cyr and partner, Christopher Hempel of Buffalo, NY

Son: Marty and wife, Brenda Cyr of Longford, KS

Stepdaughter: Clara Smith and spouse, Shelle Hughes of Lindsborg, KS

Stepson: Clayton and wife, Brenda Smith of Longford, KS

4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 Step grandchildren and several Step great-grandchildren

Brother: Derald and wife, Mary Blake of Assaria, KS

Memorial Services: Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 11:00AM at the Rose Meron in Clay County, KS

There will be no Visitation.
