WILMA JEAN HUGHES died November 30, 2011 at Presbyterian Manor, Clay Center,
KS at the age of 81. She was born on April 20, 1930 in Clay Center, Kansas the daughter of
Benjamin Edward and Bessie Mae (Walker) Hughes.
Jean was raised in Clay Center, Kansas and graduated from Clay County Community
High School in 1948. She worked for the Peoples National Bank as a Teller/Head Cashier for 43
years retiring in 1999. Jean had great joy in working and visiting with her customers. Jean's
co-workers enjoyed her great sense of humor and she considered her bank family an important
part of her life. After retirement, Jean became active in supporting musical, community and
sporting events. She was awarded the Orange and Black Pack Spirit Award for her contributions
and involvement in local high school athletic programs. She was preceded in death by her
parents and sister Joanne King.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the First
Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, Kansas.
Officiating the service will be Rev. James Byers.
Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 4th from 2:00 to 5:00 at the funeral home

home
