Lola "Jean" Trautwein, 92, died Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor. She was born December 5, 1926 in Exeter Township to Fred and Emma (Jones) Sanneman. At a very young age her father passed away and her mother married Louis Wehmhoff.

She grew up near Idana and attended rural Clay County Schools, graduating from CCCHS in 1944. On October 6, 1946 she married Robert "Bob" Trautwein. Upon graduating from high school, Jean started her working career at People's National Bank. She then went on to work at the Carl Hammel Agency and Northwestern Federal Savings & Loan. On March 1, 1989, after 32 years of service, Jean retired from Columbia Savings. After retirement, Jean and Bob enjoyed traveling to such places as Colorado, Arizona, Florida, California and the Caribbean. Jean was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church, Pilot Club and Ala Serra.


She was preceded in death by an infant son, Randy; her parents & step father; her husband Bob; her sister Nola Montgomery; brother Leroy Sanneman & step brother Don Wehmhoff.

Survivors include her daughter Kathy Knoettgen & husband Arnie of Morganville; her granddaughter Tonya Knoettgen of Kansas City, MO; her sister-in-law Phyllis Trautwein of Clay Center; seven nieces and two nephews.

Respect calls will be from 3 to 7PM Tuesday, December 18 at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center.

Funeral services will be at 10:30AM, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the Clay Center United Methodist Church; followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor in care of the funeral home.
