Jeri Tourney

Jeri Elizabeth Tourney passed away peacefully February 17, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Jeri was born on November 22, 1953 to Gerald and Mary (Neff) Mahsman. She was raised on the family farm in Palmyra, Missouri. She attended grade school in a one-room school house at West Ely, Missouri and graduated high school at Palmyra in 1971. She was united in marriage to Ronald Tourney on March 30, 1973. They were blessed with three wonderful children. In 1990, the family moved to Clay Center, Kansas. It was here that she found her true calling as a preschool teacher teaching at Clay County Head Start. Jeri was a devoted teacher and truly loved what she did. She will be tremendously missed by all those around her. She is survived by her husband, Ron, of Clay Center; three children, Andrew Tourney (Carrie) of Kearny, Missouri, Heather Tourney of Clay Center, Kansas and Jeffrey Tourney of Clay Center, Kansas; Two grandchildren, Cole and Anna Tourney of Kearny, Missouri; her mother, Mary Mahsman of Palmyra, Missouri; Two aunts and an uncle; and six brothers and eight sisters, all of the Palmyra area. She is preceded in death by her father, Gerald. Visitation will be on February 19, 2016 from 3-8:00 p.m. at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas. Cremation is planned.
