Joan Burns

JOAN S BURNS, 80 died March 1, 2008 at the Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS. She was born on September 11, 1927 in Clay Center,Kansas the daughter of William and Mary (Uhlenhop) Schwartz. Jo was raised in the Leonardville area and graduated from Leonardville High School in 1945. She graduated from St. Mary School of Nursing in Manhattan in 1948. She married James Robert Burns on January 14, 1950. James preceded her in death on September 10, 1963. She was a Registered Nurse and worked in the Clay County Hospital, Tri-Medical Group and Presbyterian Manor all of Clay Center. In 2004 she received the Nursing Lifetime Achievement Award. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center where she was and ordained deacon and elder of the church.
