JOE F. KNOETTGEN, 89 died March 2, 2014 at Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center, KS. He was born on May 3, 1924 in Washington County, KS. The son of John and Margaret (Long) Knoettgen. Joe was a lifelong member of St Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. Joe married Donnis Cox on September 6, 1945 in Portland, OR. and she survives of the home. He worked for Northern Natural Gas in South Sioux City, NE and moved to Clifton in 1951 where he farmed and was also a DeKalb Seed Dealer. He was a member of the Sherman Township Rural Fire Board and a maintainer for the Mulberry Township Roads. He was also a member of the American Legion in Clifton, VFW in Clyde, Clifton Chamber of Commerce Treasurer and First National Bank Board of Directors. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Kristi Knoettgen, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors: Wife:Donnis Knoettgen, Clifton, KS Son:Lindy and wife Wanda Knoettgen, Clifton, KS Son:Danny and wife Suzi Knoettgen, Clifton, KS Daughter:Kathy and husband Terry Ellis, Valley Center, KS Daughter:Jan and husband Jesse Jackson, Clay Center, KS Daughter:Dena and husband Tim Watson, Midlothian, VA Twin-Sister: Maydean Swoboda, Topeka, KS Grandchildren: 13 Grandchildren, 3 Step Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 10:00AM at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clifton, KS Officiating the service will be Fr. Larry Letourneau Burial will be in the St. Marys Cemetery, Clifton, KS Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 6 PM with Rosary at 6:30pm at the Turner Chapel in Clifton, KS Memorials: St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund, Community Care in Clifton or the Clifton Ambulance Service.
