John Palmateer

John Dwight Palmateer, 85, died March 8, 2018 in Manhattan, KS. He was born on October 24, 1932 in Clay County, KS, the son of Robert Daniel and Agnes (Heigele) Palmateer. John was raised in the Longford community and graduated from Longford High School in 1950. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. John attended Kansas State University and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for the US Army Corp of Engineers in Manhattan, Kansas City, Slater, MO and Jefferson City, MO. He transferred to Ft. Riley in 1983 and retired in 1988. John was a Boy Scout Master, a member of the Cloverleaf Square Dance Club, American Legion and the Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church in Kansas City.
