Joseph Burchett passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, in Wakefield, KS. Joe was born July 21, 1957, in Junction City, KS to William Dowell and Ruth Lucille (Halsey) Burchett. Joe was the youngest of four children. Older brothers Dowell and Virgil and sister Ramona.
The Burchett family resided in Junction City until 1968 then moved to Wakefield. Joe graduated from Wakefield High School, class of 1975 and attended Manhattan Area Technical College for auto mechanics.
He married Julee (Nemnich) on November 6, 1976. They welcomed son, Heath Lee, on June 20, 1977, they later divorced.
He then married Dolores (Shivers) on December 8, 1979, and welcomed two daughters, Jeana and Annetta, they later divorced.
Joe enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, tinkering on cars, watching sports, fishing, listening and playing music, and spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. He worked for the Clay County Landfill as a heavy equipment operator for over 15 years. Before that he was skilled in plumbing and auto mechanics.
Joe is proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Virgil; son, Heath and granddaughter, Jayden.
Joe is survived by his daughters, Jeana (Brock) Taylor and Annetta (Tom) Flax; brother, Dowell (Janet) Burchett; sister, Ramona Steckman; grandchildren, Paden, Ryan, Jett, Tayleigh, Ty, Teagan, and Amree; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 2-5pm on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Neill-Schwensen- Rook Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Wakefield Methodist Church with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery in Wakefield.
Memorials can be made to the Joseph Burchett Memorial fund and left in care of the funeral home.
