JOSEPH KNITTER, 83 died November 7, 2014 in Clay Center, Kansas . He was born on August 20, 1931 in Green, KS. The son of George and Etta (Holliday) Knitter. Joe was raised in the Green community and graduated from Green High School. He married Mary Scharlotte Lewis on December 15, 1957. They farmed in the Morganville area and he also drove a school bus for 25 years. He served in the National Guard during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Joe was a member of the Morganville United Methodist Church, charter member of the Clay Center BPOE and the Morganville CO-OP board. He is preceded in death by parents and a brother, Ross Knitter. Survivors: Wife: Mary Scharlotte Knitter, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Lynette and husband Gayle Dunn, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Joanna Dunn and companion Mike Begnoche, Clay Center, KS Son: Jay and wife Pam Knitter, Morganville, KS 11 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Morganville United Methodist Church in Morganville, KS. Officiating the service will be Rev. Sarah Gill and Pastor Ron Walker. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 3-8 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to theJoe Knitter Memorial fund c/o the funeral home.
