Joyce Allen was born January 12, l931, in Russet, Oklahoma to Edwin and Opal Burton. She graduated high school in Blackwell, Oklahoma and attended a semester of college in Ada, Oklahoma. She married O.M. Allen on July 2, l949. They were married 66 years. Her husband preceded her in death. Joyce was a devoted wife and mother and they had three children together: Mark Allen, Pamela Allen (Tim Peterson), and Tim Allen (Kelly Allen). She was also a devoted and loving grandmother and they had five grandchildren: Adam and Matt Allen, Nathan Peterson, Bridgette Rankin (Brian Rankin), and Kyle Allen. They have three great-grandchildren: Logan, Leah, and Luke Rankin. She is survived by her three siblings and their spouses: Pauline and (Joe) Goodale, Tom and (Mavis) Burton, and June and (Charles) Colaw, 10 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Joyce and her husband served in the ministry of the Wesleyan church for 28 years serving in Kansas City, Salina and Oakley, Kansas. They lived in Oakley, Kansas for 19 years. As a minister’s wife she was an active and integral part of the church and she and her husband were a good working team. Their ministry to others influenced countless lives over the years. While living in Oakley, she also worked outside the church and home, and worked as the county clerk in Logan County, as a secretary in the District Conservation office, and at the Oakley Graphic. After retiring from the ministry they moved to Clay Center, Kansas in l995. While in Clay Center they attended the Wesleyan Church and enjoyed participating and organizing programs for the ‘Best Years Fellowship’ program and helping out as needed. Joyce loved her family and she enjoyed hosting family dinners, and participating in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was a kind, loving and giving person and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Presbyterian Manor and or the Wesleyan Church. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, KS Officiating the service will be Rev. Jimmy Flick Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 10AM until service time at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
