Kay Salts

d. October 25, 2017

Gladys Kay (Bratt) Salts, 74 died October 25, 2017. She was born on November 29, 1942, the daughter of Raymond and Lillian (Terhune) Bratt. Kay was raised in Beatrice, NE. She married William (Bill) Salts on Feb 4, 1960. The family moved to Clay Center in 1977. Kay modeled hospitality. She welcomed family, friends, and strangers into her home with equal warmth and generosity. As parents, Kay and Bill taught that the love of family, our neighbors, God and Country are the goals of child rearing. Kay modeled strength. When Bill was stationed overseas, she led the household with courage and efficiency. When bad things happened, she found solutions instead of bemoaning life's unfairness. But mostly, Kay modeled love. She and Bill had a 55-year marriage that was full of romance, respect, humility, and laughter. Bill preceded her in death on June 24, 2015 and has been patiently waiting to be with his wife again. In Heaven, Kay is once more with others whom she treasured—her parents, her son, two brothers, a sister and a granddaughter. In addition to her family, Kay loved researching genealogy with her sister, playing Pinochle at home with friends, and Bingo at the Legion Hall. She and Bill always took Sunday drives to "wherever we end up." She was also a volunteer for Red Cross, Clay County Historical Society, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
