Laverne Peterson

LAVERNE N. PETERSON died May 28, 2010 at Valley Vista Nursing Home, Wamego, KS at the age of 89. LAVERNE N. PETERSON was born on March 4, 1921 in Clifton Kansas, the son of Peter Peterson and Edith Graves. He grew up in the Clifton area and graduated from Clifton High School. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He married Mary Rundle on August 29, 1943 and she survives. He farmed until the mid 50's then worked for Northern Natural Gas, City of Clifton and was custodian at the Clifton High School until he retired. He was a member of the American Legion of Clifton and VFW of Clyde. He is preceded by two brothers. Survivors include: Wife: Mary Peterson, Wamego, KS Son: Ronald and wife Martha Peterson, Bellevue, NE Son: Steven and wife Tina Peterson, McPherson, KS Brother: Marlin and wife Brenda Peterson, Clay Center, KS Sister: Marcine Johnson, Concordia, KS Grandchildren: 5 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Larry Myers. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1 from 3-8pm with family greeting friends from 6:30-8pm at the funeral home.
