Lavone Ina (Taddiken) McIntosh, 91, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014. She was born on May 13, 1922, youngest of the six children of John Behrens and Margaret (Young) Taddiken on their farm five miles west and three miles north of Clay Center. She was affectionately known as "Tiny" by her brothers and sisters, and later, her nieces and nephews.  Lavone attended Washington School until 7th grade, when she and her parents moved to Clay Center. Their home was on Lane Street, and Lavone liked to point out that she spent most of her life in three different homes within three blocks of each other on Lane Street.  Lavone graduated from CCCHS in 1940. She received a diploma from Huff Business College in Kansas City, MO. She returned to Clay Center to work as secretary at the Union State Bank. While she was secretary at the bank, she began dating William F. (Bill) McIntosh, who was employed at the People's National Bank. They were married August 1, 1943 and he preceded her in death April 22, 2001.During Bill's time overseas in World War II, Lavone completed the John Robert Powers modeling school in New York City. She did some modeling and was employed by the Powers Modeling Agency. Lavone was a district president of the Kansas Federation of Women's Clubs. She served as president of the Nea Study Club, the Clay Center Library Club and was Worthy Matron of the Clay Center Chapter 180 Order of the Eastern Star.      Lavone was a local Girl Scout leader and served at the state level. She was secretary of the Kansas Mental Health Association. She was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.Lavone had a stroke in 2000 and moved to the Presbyterian Manor. The staff cared for her very well and became like family.  Lavone was preceded in death by her parents, infant son David, daughter Laine Burch, and all her brothers and sisters and their spouses. She is survived by her son Laird W. McIntosh and partner Herman Velarde of Las Cruces, N.M. and daughter Heather Dreith and husband Steven of Waterville, KS; three grandchildren, Lara Burch of St. Louis, MO., Megan Salter and husband Kurt of Prospect, KY. and Tristan Dreith of Manhattan, KS; and two great grandsons, Grayson and Brecken Salter. Funeral servicev will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 2PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, KS Drew Reding will officiate Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS Visitation: Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 3-8PM at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 5-7PM. Memorials: in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church, Clay Center Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund, or the Clay County Historical Society and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
