Leslie H. Sallee of Winfield, Kansas passed peacefully October 8, 2018.  Born to parents William Sallee and Edna Mae Hope in Pawnee, Oklahoma, on February 28, 1927, Les spent his youth working the family farm with many of his 12 siblings and attending school. Upon graduating from Pawnee High School, Les worked the family farm under a military deferment until he enrolled in Oklahoma A&M. In the next 4 years, Les studied Animal Science and Crop Management. He also entered the Army Reserve Officer Training Corp and received a commission in the Army Reserves. On completion of active duty, Les returned to Oklahoma A&M to work towards a Master’s in Extension , Education and Community Development.  For the next 35 years, Les served many communities as an Extension Director, Agriculture Agent and 4-H agent. Les’ longtime passion of working with youth and young adults was fulfilled throughout this public service. Mixing his love for youth and passion to serve, Les also continued to serve his nation for 28 years in the Army Reserve and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Les celebrated 67 years of marriage with Barbara Caudill of Bartlesville Oklahoma his children and their families. Les is survived by his wife, Barbara Sallee, sons, Christopher Sallee of Hulbert, Ok. and Douglas (Pam) Sallee of Milford Ks., daughter, Leslie (Dave) Carpenter of Wichita, Ks., five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, brothers Joe, Johnnie, and Lyle Sallee, sisters Nancy Sallee, Rosa Mae Garrison, Carolyn Harrell, Phyllis Heisler, Joyce Heisler.  In addition to his parents he was preceded by his son David Kevin, brothers Bill , Jimmy, Kenneth, and sister Marjorie Dean.  There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Clay Center Christian Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas. A memorial fund in the name of Les Sallee will be established to support Rock Springs 4-H and may be sent c/o the funeral home.
