Lester Leroy Elsasser

LESTER LeROY ELSASSER, 95 died October 30, 2015 at Medicalodge in Clay Center, KS. He was born on December 3, 1919 in Clay County, Kansas, the son of Karl and Lucy (McPheeters) Elsasser. Lester married Nettie Hasselman on March 20, 1941 and she preceded him in death on April 29, 2006. They made their home in Geary and Clay Counties before moving to Wakefield in 1961. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Wakefield Lions Club. He is preceded in death by son, John, grandson, Jeff Sherbert, 2 brothers, Francis and Eldon, sister, Cleta Ruff, and son in-law, Dwight Sherbert. Survivors: Daughter: Jolene and husband, Merle Hammond, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Marilyn Sherbert, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Eunice and husband, Larry Kopfer, Clay Center, KS Son: Vernon and wife, Sharon Elsasser, Touchet, WA 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, 3 Step Great Grandchildren and 5 Step Great Great Grandchildren Sister: Doreen Kanode, Chapman, KS Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00AM at the Madura Congregational Church in Wakefield, KS. Officiating the service will be Rev. Todd Britt Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Wakefield, KS. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 9:30AM until service time at Madura Congregational Church, Wakefield, KS. Memorials may be made to the Wakefield Museum or Medicalodge of Clay Center and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
