L'Jeane Elizabeth Mugler, age 85, passed away at Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center, KS on March 19, 2025. She was born on May 5, 1939, in Linn, KS the daughter of Harold and Lillian (Wichman) Wohler.

She went to McKinley Elementary School for eight grades and then to Clay Center Community High School graduating in 1957. She was outstanding in vocal and instrumental music, playing the flute, piano and violin. She excelled in the violin and was selected to play with the high school orchestra as a middle school student. She sang in a quartet and was in the first Singing Christmas Tree. She was honored to be a homecoming queen candidate.

She met Herbert Mugler in high school and they quicky became sweethearts. They married on October 1 0, 1958, at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center. They celebrated 66 years of marriage this past October. They were blessed with five children: Marianne, Marvin, Marlin, Marabeth and Marsha.

L'Jeane worked as a secretary for the Clay County Highway Department, Clay Center United Methodist Church and finally at Union State Bank for 23 years until her retirement. She was a farmwife, homemaker, seamstress, and amazing cook. Everything she did, she did well. She was an adoring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She made a special effort to connect with each one and they held a special place in her heart. Family was so important to her, and she shared her love with everyone in a caring way.

She was active in the Presbyterian Church until she married and then at the Ebenezer Methodist Church and Clay Center UMC. She served as President of the United Methodist Women and Alla Sera Cluster. She served on the Family Life Center Building Committee and as a Vacation Bible School Director. Outside of church, she was a member of the Blaine EHU and shared her talents as a Lincoln Creek 4-H community leader for 12 years.

Survivors include: Husband: Herbert Mugler of the home, Daughter: Marianne (Doug) McMunn of Howell, Michigan, Son: Marvin (Shelly) Mugler, Son: Marlin (Jill) Mugler, Daughter: Marabeth (Brad) Conner and Daughter: Marsha (Mike) Argo all of Clay Center. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Matthew (Grace) McMunn, Katie (Justin) Thompson, Marsha (Dave) Robinson, Benjamin Mugler, Isaac Mugler, Brenna (Christian) Kaufman, Payton (Drew) Kuckelman, Devin Argo (Olivia Stewart), Aiden Argo, and five great grandchildren: Kendall, Tyler, Isadore, Remi, and Rowan, Sister in law: Evelyn Mugler and many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Elmer Wohler, and Zora (Wohler) Anderson. L'Jeane talked often about wanting to go home in recent months. We believe she is now home with Jesus.

Visitation: 2-5 PM Sunday, March 23 at the Clay Center United Methodist Church Sanctuary.

Funeral services: 10:00AM Monday, March 24 at Clay Center United Methodist Church in Clay Center.

Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
