Heaven received a new occupant this Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Lloyd Swenson was born in Concordia, KS on July 3, 1920 to George and Ethel Swenson. He is the last surviving brother of four and was a longtime resident of Clay Center, 65 years.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a radio operator during WW II and flew 26 missions over Germany from 1944-45 and was awarded the Bronze Star of Valor.
Upon returning home from the war he married Constance Close of Broughton, KS in June of 1947. They remained joined at the hip until his passing.
Lloyd was employed by Northern Natural Gas Company and worked out of the Clifton, KS facility. He retired in the early 80’s with 35 years of service. After retiring, the two traveled frequently taking many mystery bus tours where they met many new friends.
He enjoyed woodworking, dabbled with oil painting and enjoyed music, especially violins which he made himself from scratch. He grew up in the Great Depression and learned at an early age to be self dependent. He also was a horticulturist of sorts and loved trees and all plant life.
Whether spouse, child, family, friend or acquaintance-we were all blessed and privileged to have shared life with such a man.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor for their care and compassion they gave to Lloyd during his stay. Also to Robin Thurlow and her staff for their dedicated service to both Connie/Lloyd over the years.
Survived by his wife Connie; 2 children, Ron Swenson and wife Diane, of Sherman, TX; Ken Swenson and wife Suzie of Londonderry, NH; 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by brothers Lowell, Leonard, and Loraine all of Concordia, KS.

A private, family service will be held at a later time.
Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.
