Lois Jean Hamilton

Lois Jean (Yarrow) Hamilton, of Clay Center, passed away August 9, 2022 at the age of 97 after a long battle with dementia.  Lois Jean was born April 9, 1925 the daughter of Wright and Martha Yarrow.

She attended Mt. Vernon grade school and later graduated from Clay Center High School with the class of 1942.

She married Donald L. Hamilton in June 1946 and they had 3 sons, Gregory Stephen, Dennis Eugene and Kelly Scott.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Wright and Martha, husband Donald and son Gregory.

She is survived by her two sons, Dennis of Clay Center and Kelly and wife Mary of San Diego, CA.  Four grandchildren, Lindsay Clark, Erin Hamilton, Katie Hamilton and Andy Hamilton.  Two great grandchildren, Laramie and Landrie.

Lois Jean worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator and later for over 20 years as secretary of McKinley School.   She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge clubs in Clay Center.  She was a member of the Clay Center Covenant Church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 10:30AM at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Utility Park Zoo or Meals on Wheels and can be sent c/o the funeral home.
