Lois Marie Winston

Lois Marie Winston died July 18, 2008 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Shawnee, KS at the age of 73. Lois was born on May 6, 1935 in Longford, Kansas the daughter of Clifford and Agnes (Carlson) Scripter. She graduated from the Asbury School of Nursing in 1956. She married Jack Winston on September 9, 1956 at Clay Center and he preceded her in death February 25, 1994. The couple lived in Hamilton, MT and moved to Seattle, WA in 1959. They moved to Anchorage, AK in 1972 and then moved to Clay Center in 1976. In 1993 they moved to O'Neill, NE and owned and operated the Elms Motel. In 1996, Lois moved back to Clay Center before recently moving to Shawnee, Kansas. She was a member of the Clay County Hospital Auxiliary and the St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, bowling and gardening. She was also preceded in death by her father. Survivors include: Son: Jack E. Winston, Jr., Shawnee, KS Daughter: Kimberly and her husband, Steve Young, Holyoke, CO Daughter: Kristol and her husband, Mike Stenstrom, Shawnee, KS Mother: Agnes Scripter, Clay Center, KS Sister: Bonnie Snyder, Aurora, CO Sister: Delores Botz, Fairbury, NE Brother: Larry Scripter, Longmont, CO Brother: Don Scripter, Clay Center, KS Brother: Richard Scripter, Clay Center, KS Grandchildren: Six Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Kansas . Officiating the service will be Pastor Paul Tessaro. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America in care of the funeral home.
