Loren Nelson

LOREN L. NELSON died March 15, 2007 at Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan, KS at the age of 89. LOREN L. NELSON was born on May 1, 1917 in Idana, Kansas the son of Julius and Julia A. (Hedlund) Nelson. He was raised in the Idana, Kansas area. He was a Army veteran of WWII. He married Freida Steites on July 9, 1945 and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his second wife Zela Nicewander. He farmed in the Idana, Kansas area. He moved to Clay Center, Kansas in the late 1960's. He is also preceded in death by a step-daughter Jane Emert and two sisters. Survivors include: Son: Steve and wife Janice Nelson, Olathe, KS Son: Lonnie and wife Darlene Nelson, Mt. Hope, KS Step-Son: Ralph and wife Leola Nicewander, Clay Center, KS Sister: Icel Mae and husband Harley Smith, Miltonvale, KS Grandchildren: 12 grand, 21 great-grand and several great-great Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 19, 2007 at 1:30 PM at the Wesleyan Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Mike Paschall. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home Memorials can be made to Clay Center Wesleyan Church c/o Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
