Loren "Shorty" Riek

LOREN "SHORTY" RIEK, 72 died December 7, 2014 at his residence in Clay Center, KS. He was born on July 26, 1942 in Clay Center, KS, the son of Harold and Gladys (Hammel) Riek. Loren graduated from CCCHS and farmed in Clay County his entire life. He married Shirley Townsdin on September 14, 1984 and she survives of the home. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the BPOE and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: Wife: Shirley Riek, Clay Center, KS Son: Michael Riek and wife Kerry Hoobler-Riek, Ft. Collins, CO Daughter: Michelle Cadena, Ft. Collins CO Brother: Lawrence and wife Judy Riek, Clay Center, KS Niece: Jamie and husband Craig Easterberg, Clay Center, KS 4 Grandchildren: Jordan Woltje-Wirrick, Jacob Shannon, Mackenna Riek, and Addie Riek Special niece: Ashlee Special nephews: Ryan, Colton, Baylee Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 10:30am at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, KS. Officiating the service will be Rev. Scott Lingle. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 3-8pm at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home. Memorials: Given to the donors choice in Loren's name and sent in c/o the funeral home.
