Lorene "Shorty" Erickson

LORENE “SHORTY” ERICKSON died October 6, 2011 at Medicalodge, Clay Center, KS at the age of 89. She was born on April 10, 1922 in Parsons, Kansas the daughter of Edward and Rosa (Tebodo) Bisnett. She was raised in the Broughton Area and farmed with her husband. She worked for Hutchinson Mayrth for 20 years and the Wakefield Cafe for 10 years. She was a member of the V.F.W. and made lap quilts for Irwin Army Hospital. She married Elmer Erickson on December 23, 1940 and he preceded her on September 16, 1996. She is also preceded by 4 brothers and 6 sisters. Survivors include: Daughter: Barbara Rollman, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Judy and husband Gary Peter, Manhattan, KS Daughter: Linda Ruff, Topeka, KS Daughter: Carol Jensen, Prairie Village, KS Sister: Betty Burch, Canton , KS Grandchildren: 10 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grand chidren Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Wakefield Chapel in Wakefield, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Susan Sawyer. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery, Wakefield, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9 from 2-4pm at the Wakefield Funeral Chapel.
