Louis Lavern Heigele

LOUIS LAVERN "VERNIE" HEIGELE died September 18, 2008 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS at the age of 90. He was born on March 1, 1918 in Clay County Kansas, the son of Fred Heigele Sr. and Grace Frazier. He was raised in the Longrford area. He attended Walker Countyr School and graduated from Longford High School in 1936. He graduated from Central Business College in Kansas City,MO in 1937 and worked as an accountant in Salina. He married Dolores Runnalls on August 14, 1940 in Longford. They farmed in the Longford community. He is a life long member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Charter member of Farm Bureau, ASCS Committee, Walker School Board, Clay County Landfill Committee, Chapman Township Board and treasurer for the Longford Rural Telephone Exchange. He is preceded by a sister, Pearl McCready and a brother Matthew Heigele. Survivors include: Wife: Dolores Heigele, Clay Center, KS Son: Fred and wife Janet Heigele, Longford, KS Daughter: Frieda and husband Robert Knitter, Clay Center, KS Grandchildren: 5 Grandsons & 5 Great-grandsons Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Longford, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Larry Brock. Burial will be at the Athelstane Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home Memorials can be made to Bethel United Methodist Church c/o the funeral home
