LUCILLE MAE STEELE died July 9, 2010 at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center, Topeka, KS at the age of 80. Lucille was born on February 21, 1930 in Westmoreland, Kansas the daughter of William and Erma (Gordon) Blenn. She attended Cree School, Westmoreland Grade School and graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1948. She married Howard T. Steele on June 18, 1950 in Westmoreland. The couple lived several places before moving to Clay Center. She worked at Kent Cafe, Cedar Court Restaurant, and A&W. The couple moved to Burlington where she worked at the Country Critter Puppet Factory for 14 years until she retired and they moved back to Clay Center in 1994. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers; Louis, Galen, and Jay Blenn. Survivors include: Husband: Howard Steele, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Sherrie and husband, Gary Willmann, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Beverly and husband, Jerry Layman, Trenton, GA Son: Kevin and wife, Deedra Steele, Emporia, KS 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lucille Steele Memorial Fund to be designated later in care of the funeral home.
