MARCELLYN JANE HOLTORF, 62 died May 4, 2014 at Residence in Linn, Kansas. She was born on May 30, 1951 in Adrian, MN. The daughter of Emery and Joan (Stearns).
Marcellyn Jane (Mulder) Holtorf was born on May 30, 1951 to Emery and Joan Mulder, the fifth of 12 children. She was baptized on August 17, 1960. Marcy graduated from Worthington, MN High School in 1969 and received her RN degree from Bryan Hospital, Lincoln, NE in 1972. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years. Marcy married Gene Holtorf on January 5, 1975. This union was blessed with two children. Marcy joined Christ Lutheran Church, Lincoln, NE, in 1975 through adult catechesis. She was employed at Bryan Hospital, Lincoln, NE until 1989 when she and the family moved to Ft. Wayne, IN where her husband began his study for the office of holy ministry at Concordia Theological Seminary. Following his graduation and ordination in 1993, the family moved to rural Palmer, KS where her husband was called to be the Pastor of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. In 1994, Marcy began her 18-year employment as the Office Nurse at the Linn Family Physicians branch of the Clay Center Family Physicians, in Linn, KS. Marcy was an active member at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Palmer and served her church in many capacities: she was the president of the Seminary wives during her time in Fort Wayne, and at St. John, she was a member of the Tabitha Society, past President of the LWML Society, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the Adult Choir and small groups. Marcy believed that time not spent in service to others was wasted time. Marcy enjoyed raising her voice in song. But her first love was being a wife, a mother, and more recently, being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Emery Mulder.
