Margaret Cecilia Baxter

Margaret was raised in the Hayes Community in Clay County and graduated from Clay Center Community High School. She taught rural schools for 11 years and then married Ben Baxter on February 12, 1946. She was a home health aide and an aide at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor. She was a member of the Clay Center Wesleyan Church, YMWB director for 37 years, CYC director, a Sunday School teacher, she sang in the church choir, and a HAMM Radio Operator. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 2 brothers, and 1 grandchild. Survivors: Husband: Ben Baxter, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Martha and her husband, John Hanson, Leonardville, KS Son: Bob Baxter, Clay Center, KS Grandchildren: 6 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held Monday,March 9, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Clay Center Wesleyan Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Rob Stewart and Pastor Kent Hedlund. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Respect Calls will be held from 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the church in care of the funeral home.
