Marguerite "Maggie" Collette

MARGUERITE COLLETTE died February 17, 2012 at her residence in Clay Center, KS at the age of 65. She was born on July 3, 1946 in Clay Center Kansas, the daughter of George and Marguerite (Herter) Moody. Marguerite was born and raised in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS in 1964. She married Don Collette on March 3, 1965. She worked civil service in Manhattan for a few years, at the Clay Center Dispatch for 18 years as a typesetter and for Clay Center Real Estate. Don and Marguerite were foster parents for eight years. She also operated Maggie's Day Care out of her home. Marguerite was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Humane Society, was a leader for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, coached little league softball, and was active with the Clay County Wrestling Club. She is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: Husband: Don Collette, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Lisa and husband Ron Harris, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Tonya Jones, Clay Center, KS Son: Troy Collette, Clay Center, KS Sister: Jan Jacobs, Gering, NE Sister: Barb Straub, Clay Center, KS Brother: Ray Moody, Wymore, NE 9 Grandchildren & 6 Great-grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Matthew Coleman. Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home Memorials can be made to Clay Center Recreation c/o the funeral home
