Marguerite Martin

MARGUERITE MARTIN died February 13, 2011 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS at the age of 98. Marguerite was born on February 15, 1912 in Clifton Kansas, the daughter of Trefflia Alexander and Elizabeth Esslinger. Marguerite was raised in Clifton and graduated from Clifton High School. She taught school for 2 years before marrying Roy Martin, Sr. on April 12, 1932. She worked at the Ft. Riley Cafeteria for two years and helped Roy on the farm. Her husband preceded her in death on November 5, 2001. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Catholic Women's Organization, E.H.U., Farm Bureau and active in 4-H Leadership. She is also preceded by a son, Roy, Jr. Survivors include: Son: Don and wife Lois Martin, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Joan and husband Jerry Davis, Herington, KS Son: Noel and wife Vicki Martin, Becker, MN Daughter: Jeanine and husband Larry Gagnon, Salina, KS Son: Max and wife Kathy Martin, Clay Center, KS Grandchildren: 22 Grandchildren and 46 Great Grand Brother: Lawrence and wife Rita Alexander, Clifton, KS Brother: Dean and wife Nan Alexander, San Antonio, TX Daughter-In-Law: Mary Ann Martin, Clay Center, KS Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center, Kansas . Officiating the service will be The Rev. Larry Grennan and The Rev. Merlin Kieffer. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 3-7PM Thursday, February 17 at the funeral home and the family will greet friends from 5-6. A Rosary and Wake will be held at 7:00. Memorials can be made to In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marguerite Martin Memorial Fund sent in care of the funeral home.
