Marsha Jo Pittenger, 60, died Sunday, October 4, 2009 at her residence. She was born August 8, 1949 in Clay Center, Kansas the daughter of Marvin and Grace Siebold. Marsha attended the Idylwild Grade School in Clay County and graduated from Clay County High School with the class of 1967. She married Arnold Dwight Pittenger on December 2, 1967 at the Hayes United Methodist Church in Clay County Kansas. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Shane Dwight, Jennifer Dawn and Brandi Jo. Marsha and Arnold lived in Clay Center until the summer of 1989 when the family moved to Glenwood Springs, Colorado. They built a house in New Castle in 1995 and resided there until September 2009 when they moved to Fountain, CO. Marsha’s love for children made it easy for her to be a child care provider and she operated a preschool after her youngest child was born for several years in Clay Center and she continued that line of work after moving to Colorado. Marsha was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the summer of 2003, which she courageously battled until late summer of 2009, when it finally took her strength but not her determination to fight until the end.Marsha was preceded by her father, Marvin H. Siebold; eldest brother, Lanny R. Siebold; nephew Jeffery L. Siebold; father and mother-in-law, Albert and Patricia Pittenger. She is survived by her loving, devoted husband Arnold D. Pittenger; her mother Grace Siebold of Linn Ks; children Shane Pittenger (fiancée Lisa Mathews) of Fountain CO; Jennifer (Donivan) Livingston of New Castle CO, Brandi (Raymond) Laney of Colorado Springs CO; sister Carolyn (Bryce) Brown of Rifle CO; brothers Jerry (Betty) Siebold of Clay Center Ks; Tony (Barbara) Siebold of Manhattan, Ks; sister-in-law Rita Siebold of Clay Center Ks; her grandchildren Victoria Dawn Stevenson and Shantelle Jade Stevenson, Justice Alexandria Livingston and Serenity Jade Livingston all of New Castle; Jordyn Ashley Laney, Jailyn Marie Laney and Tavin Vance Laney all of Colorado Springs CO; step grandchildren Justin Taylor Allen and Jessica Marie Allen of Fountain, CO. as well as numerous relatives and friends that loved her and will miss her greatly. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, October 10, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Respect calls will be held from 3-8 PM Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Marsha Jo Pittenger Memorial Fund to be designated later by the family and can be sent in care of the funeral home or the American National Bank 2624 Grand Avenue, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601.
