Martha Olson

MARTHA JANE OLSON, 90 died December 8, 2015 at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, KS. She was born on April 11, 1925 in Ottawa County, KS, the daughter of Andrew and Minnie (Smith) Hoard. Martha attended Sleepy Hollow country school near Miltonvale. She attended Friends Academy High School at North Branch, KS until it closed. She graduated from Burr Oak High School. Following high school, she worked at the North Branch telephone office and at McCarthy's Hardware I Mankato. Martha married Dale Olson on February 17, 1946. They made their home in Mankato, Belleville, Superior, NE, Delphos, Longmont, CO and Salina before moving to Miltonvale in 1972. Martha owned and operated Western Auto in Miltonvale until they moved to Topeka in 1981. They managed a Motel 6 in Topeka before returning to Miltonvale in 1989. Dale preceded her in death on July 28, 1990. Martha was a member of F,C, Hill Memorial Wesleyan Church and the Senior Citizens Center, both of Miltonvale. She is preceded in death by her parents, great-grandson, Dalen Wyatt, 2 sisters, Ethel Mikesell and Junelda Dillon and 5 brothers, Elmer, Keith, Earl, Harry Lee and Charles Hoard. Survivors: Son: Robert and wife Pat Olson, Longmont, CO Daughter: Barbara and husband Roger Mikels, Miltonvale, KS Son: Doug and wife Joan Olson, Concordia, KS Daughter: Beverly and husband Dave Kelley, McPherson, KS Son: Paul and wife Linda Olson, Concordia, KS Son: Ron and wife Edwina Olson, Enid, OK Brother: Andrew Hoard, Jr., Smith Center, KS Sister: Evelyn Rafferty, Blue Springs, MO Sister: Bertha Howell, Greeley, CO Brother: Floyd Hoard, Lake Wood, CO Brother: Dean and wife Letha Hoard, Ft. Collins, CO Sister: Jean Taylor, Concordia, KS 14 Grandchildren and 30 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-grandchild Sister in Law: Mona Hoard, Oxford, NE Sister in Law: Leona Hoard, Miltonvale, KS Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 1:30PM at the F.C. Hill Memorial Wesleyan Church in Miltonvale, KS Officiating the service will be Pastor Sam Flick and Dr. Rex Fuller Burial will be in Oakland Union Cemetery, Cloud County, KS Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 6-8PM at Phelps Funeral Home Memorials: Wesleyan Church Youth Program or Park Villa Activities Fund
