Martha Palmateer

MARTHA L. PALMATEER died August 3, 2009 at Mercy Health Center in Manhattan, KS at the age of 85. She was born on August 12, 1923 in Dickinson Co., Kansas the daughter of Alfred and Alice (Iseli) Luthi. She attended Athelstane, Vinzant and Walker country schools and graduated from Longford Rural High School. She taught at Clark, Sunny Slope and Pleasant Valley schools. She married Charles Palmateer on November 28, 1948. They made their home and farmed south Wakefield. Charles preceded her in death on April 11, 2006. She was active with the Wakefield Museum. She was also preceded by 1 sister. Survivors include: Son: Gary and wife Linda Palmateer, New Cambria, KS Son: Dan and wife Mary Palmateer, Blue Rapids, KS Grandchildren: 8 grand and 7 great-grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Kevin Hazelton. Burial will be at the Rose Meron Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5th from 3:00 to 8:00 pm with family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Wakefield Museum c/o the funeral home.
