Mary E. Bertsch

MARY E. BERTSCH, 90, died February 20, 2014 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS. She was born on November 27, 1923 in Morris County, KS. The daughter of Guy and Laura (Dicks) Miller. Mary grew up and attended country schools in Morris and Riley Counties. She attended Green High School. On September 16, 1939, She married Howard Bertsch in Clay Center and he preceded her in death on April 21, 1988. The couple lived on a farm near Green until moving to Clay Center in the early 1950s. Mary worked for Weimers and Patterson's Health Mart until retiring in 2002. She moved to Alma in 2007 and then to Lawrence in 2013. Mary was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church and was a volunteer for Meadowlark Hospice. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lyle and Robert Miller, and her sister, Velma Litke. Survivors: Son: Bruce and wife, Brenda Bertsch, Lawrence, KS Daughter: Marsha and husband, Jake Griffin, Oxford, NJ Grandchildren: 2 Grand and 4 Great Grand Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 10:30AM at the Clay Center United Methodist Church in Clay Center, KS Officiating the service will be Pastor Ryan Lynch Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 3-8PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home Memorials: may be made to the church or Midland Hospice and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
