Mary "Kay" Coleman

Mary Catherine “Kay” Coleman was born on September 22, 1924 in Abilene, KS to William and Mary (Ike) Weishaar. She attended Abilene schools with her younger sister Wilma. On February 7, 1945 she married Erne Coleman. During the next 13 years they were blessed with three boys. In 1951 they moved to Clay Center to manage Robbins Shoe Store. In 1963 they purchased the store and renamed it Coleman’s Shoes which Kay and Erne operated until they retired in 1980. Kay was preceeded in death by her parents William and Mary, her husband Erne, her son Jeff and her sister Wilma. She is survived by special friend and “bodyguard” Fred Sortor of Clay Center, KS Son Jon Coleman and Rachel Jacobsohn of Chicago, IL Daughter-in-law Lucy Coleman of Parkville, MO Son Joel and wife Holly of Belgrade, MT Grandchildren; Michael Coleman, Amy Coleman, Tressa Coleman, David Coleman, Daniel Coleman, and Caitlin Coleman Great Grandchildren; Logan Coleman, Jake Coleman, Lucy Coleman, and Liam Coleman Niece Connie (Howard) Burt and husband Bill of Abilene, KS Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 24th at 10:30 am at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center. Respect calls will be Wednesday, July 23rd from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Memorials may be made to Clay County Meadowlark Hospice or the American Cancer Society c/o the funeral home.
