Maxine (Gardner) Branfort died September 4, 2021, at Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde, KS at the age of 94.  Max was born in the Sherman community September 29, 1926, in Clay County, KS to Guy and Babe (Bouley) Gardner. She attended school there until the 5th grade when the family moved into Clifton finishing her education at the Clifton School.

On October 2, 1944, she was united in marriage to Bill Branfort, they were married 68 years. Max farmed alongside Bill and was a busy farm wife and mom to 3 kids. Although she was busy, she was always the first to volunteer for helping with school, church, sports and any activity her children were involved in.

After her kids were on their own, she was employed at the First National Bank and Turner Funeral Home in Clifton, KS.  She was a volunteer for Meadowlark Hospice and Clifton Community Care Nursing Home. Taking care of others was her lifelong mission.

Her hobbies were sewing, knitting, doing embroidery work, she loved to play cards and was in several card clubs and bridge clubs.

She was a member of Faith United Church, the Willing Helpers Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary post 227 where she served as unit President and also served as District President.

She is preceded by her husband Bill Branfort; sons Phillip Branfort and Mark Branfort; her siblings, Raymond and Dorothy Gardner, Doran Gardner, Mary Rowland; and her beloved little sister Ada.

Survivors include

Daughter and Son in law: JoDee and Galen Haas, Clifton, KS

Daughter in law: Bonnie Branfort, Clyde, KS

Sister-in-law: Dolores Gardner, Topeka, KS

Grandchildren: Shawn and Ranay Branfort, Jason and Jeannine Branfort, Aron Branfort, Jennifer and Wes Crane, Janene and Jordan Aggson, James Haas, Billy Haas, and Lori and Fred Nelson. And hundreds of others that loved her and called her Grandma Max.

Great-grandchildren: Bethany, Lucas, and Jareb Branfort, Jordan & Ashley Branfort, Jayda and Zach Widen, Layla, Vada, and Maggie Aggson, William and Avrie Haas, Linnea Haas and Cesar Perales, Whitney LaBarge, and Carter, Cannon, and Collin Crane

Great-Great-Granddaughter: Adalee Branfort

And many nieces and nephews

Funeral Services:   10:30 AM Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Faith United Church Presbyterian in Clifton, KS

Minister: Pastor Roxie Baer and Father Dan Gardner

Burial: Sherman Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas

Visitation:  5-7 PM Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Faith United Church Presbyterian in Clifton, KS

Memorials:    Faith United Church Presbyterian or Clifton Ball Association
