Maynard Blake, 90, died February 22, 2019 in Clay Center. He was born August 28, 1928, the son of Carl and Belle (Woodhams) Blake in Clay County. Maynard was raised in the Oak Hill community and attended West Exeter country school. He graduated from CCCHS in 1946. He farmed near Oak Hill and worked as a seed salesman before moving to Clay Center in the late 1960’s. Maynard was married to Barbara McClean and Hazel Purling. He worked in the tool room at Hutchinson Manufacturing before operating Blake’s Carwash and Blake’s Liquor Store. Maynard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and charter member of the Clay Center BPOE. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Marcia Braden; brother, Wilbur Blake; sisters, Aloma Carlson and Dorothy Stewart.
