MELVIN ASA CURTIS died May 25, 2009 at Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis, KS at
the age of 86. He was born on November 28, 1922 in Clifton, Kansas the son of Asa
Curtis and Sylvia Brooks. He attended Union, Oak Hill and Hammerli country schools and
graduated from Longford Rural High School. He worked as an iron worker during WWII.
Melvin married Vona Warner on April 17, 1943. They farmed near Oak Hill until moving to
Longford in 1949 where they lived and farmed. He was a member of the Oak Hill Presbyterian
Church and served as an elder. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge fo 58 years. Melvin
is preceded in death by a son, Clinton, 1 sister and 1 great-grandson.

Son: Jerald and wife Trudy Curtis, Union Hill, IL
Son: James and wife Nancy Curtis, Abilene, KS
Son: Brian and wife Janet Curtis, Halsted, KS
Grandchildren: 11 Grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Oak Hill Presbyterian
Church in Oak Hill, Kansas.
Officiating the service will be Pastor Gil Gillispie.
Burial will be at the Rose Meron Cemetery, Longford, Kansas.
Visitation will be held on 3-8PM, Thursday, May 28th at the funeral home.
