Montie J Bowen died peacefully on the morning of Thursday, May 21 at the Tonganoxie Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born January 14, 1929 in Texhoma, OK; Montie grew up in Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas, then attended the University of Kansas. He graduated in 1952 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from KU, then served in the Army ('53-'55) at Dugway Proving Grounds, Utah.
He enjoyed a career in aerospace, first with private industry, then spent 23 years in civil service, including the US Army Corps of Engineers (Kansas City District), Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, US Navy (San Bruno, CA)
After retiring, Montie volunteered for service organizations such as Plaza Resolana (Santa Fe), Habitat for Humanities, American Red Cross, and Lion's Club. He liked a good peanut brittle.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 27th at the Basehor United Methodist Church, 18660 158th St, Basehor, KS 66012,
visitation to precede the service from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the church.
Graveside Services will be held in Parallel Cemetery in Washington County, Kansas at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28th.
