Neva Jamis

NEVA RUTH JAMIS died July 11, 2011 at Golden LivingCenter, Wakefield, KS at the age of 89. She was born on July 19, 1921 in Dickinson County KS, the daughter of Eugene and Allie (Probasco) Steele. Neva graduated from Chapman High School in 1939. She married Charles “Herb” Jamis on March 14, 1944. Neva worked as a telephone operator in Upland. They moved to Wichita in 1967 and she worked as a sales clerk at the BX at McConnell AFB. They moved to Wakefield in 1984. Charles preceded her in death on June 8, 2010. Neva was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rebecca Lodge, O.E.S. and V.F.W. Auxiliary, all of Wakefield. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, 2 sisters, 1 brother and her parents. Survivors include: Son: Charles and wife Vicki Jamis III, Kansas City, MO Son: Gary and wife Mary Jamis, Wichita, KS Sister: Helen Foerschler, Enterprise, KS Sister: Maudine Lantz, Otis, KS Sister: Evelyn Krause, Dallas, TX Grandchildren: 5 Grand-11 Great-grand Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Wakefield, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Diana Stewart. Burial will be at the Livingston Cemetery, Dickinson County, KS. Visitation will be held on 5-8 PM Friday at the Wakefield Funeral Home Memorials can be made to American Heart Assn.
