Neva Weichel

Neva Weichel died December 15, 2008 at Golden Livingcenter, Wakefield, Kansas at the age of 90. Neva was born on May 15, 1918 in Phillipsburg, Kansas the daughter of Archibald Wherry and Grace Collins. She was born and raised in Phillipsburg where she graduated high school in 1936. She did general office work and typing for three businesses before taking a position with Phillips County Farm Bureau. In 1940, she moved to Abilene to work for the Dickinson County Farm Bureau agent. There, she met Willis Weichel and they married on July 25, 1943. They lived in Lawrence, KS, Vinton, IA and Lexington, NE before moving to Wakefield ,KS in 1947. Neva was a member of Madura Congregational Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintenent, Church Trustee and Women's Fellowship. She was also active in PTA and served on the School Board. Willis preceded her in death in 1992. She is also preceded by 2 brothers. Survivors include: Daughter: Barbara Livergood, Topeka, KS Son: James and wife Lynda Weichel, Naperville, IL Grandchildren: 6 Grand & 7 Great-grand Brother-In-Law: Quentin Weichel, Osburn, ID Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Madura Congregational Church in Wakefield, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Todd Britt. Burial will be at the Timber Creek Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until service time Saturday. Memorials can be made to Madura Congregational Church in care of the funeral home.
